RE: Buy American

I agree with the concept. Unfortunately in today's society, it is next to impossible to do since so many products are assembled from components that are imported.

Blocking numbers on a cell phone

I have been getting calls from a telemarketer. How they got the number is a mystery to me. Is there a way to block the number so it does not go through to my cell phone?

RE: Am I Wrong?

Bullies started picking on me at an early age. It did not take them long to learn to respect me. Your Son did the right thing. People will only run over you if you let them.

RE: Motorcycling dangerous?

Oh, good grief! How can some of you stand to get out of bed and go about your daily living? Yes, motorcycles are dangerous. So are bicycles. So are ATVs. so are snowmobiles. So are horses. and donkeys. and mules. and llamas. So are dogs. So are pickups. So are any kind of four wheeled vehicle. So are 3 wheeled ATVs. So is booze. My point is, LIFE is dangerous! And then, you die. There is no getting around it, you die. You might as well enjoy life to the fullest, while you can. If, for you, that means riding a motorcycle, go for it. You are correct of course that there are many dangerous things out there. I believe that motorcycles are more dangerous than a lot of other things.

RE: What should I do with this?

There are all kinds of scammers out there. I used to sell a software product. I posted ads. I had an autoresponder. When they clicked on the auto responder, they were told where to send payment. One guy from Egypt emailed me. He wanted me to give him my bank account number so he could transfer the money to my account, or so he said. I told him, my auto responder gave you detailed information on where to send payment, my software package requires you to be able to read and follow directions. If you can't follow simple directions like where to send the money, the software would be worthless to you. I know what he was really after. He wanted my account so he could transfer money out. I did not fall for it.

RE: Bread Machine?

Do you use a bread machine? What type? Can you make "lower" carbohydrate bread in one of these machines? Here is a lo carb bread machine recipe.http://www.recipezaar.com/recipe/getrecipe.zsp?id=102631 It uses vital wheat gluten flour. This is flour with the starch and bran removed. Check with your local Grocery store or Health food store. If not available locally you can order it here. http://www.bobsredmill.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1 I hope that helps you.

RE: Bread Machine?

We have a Welbilt that we purchased for $4.99 at the Salvation Army thrift store. It makes either a 1.5 lb loaf or a a 2lb. It works great. I did not get a manual, but is pretty simple to use. As for the lo carb bread, you may be able to find a bread machine recipe for it online. There are tons of bread machine recipes available on the net.

RE: Wife passed away Wednesday

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost 2 wives within 5 years so I know what it feels like. My Prayers go out to you. When my 2nd wife died a friend of ours gave me a book on how to deal with things. If you would like me to share with you the insights that I gained from reading the book, please send me an PM and I will be glad to do it.

RE: Gout

For an acute gout attack, I take Colchicine. When you get diarrhea, you know the medicine is in your system and you quit taking it. It does work on the pain, however. I take Allopurinol on a daily basis. I have not had an acute attack in well over a year or two.

RE: side dishes for 100 help!

Not camping related, but I came here for some help. I Love to cook and I am providing green beans and baked beans for husbands company picnic. I'm not sure how much I will need for 100 people?? Can any one point me in the right direction? Thank you so much! Cherri Generally, Speaking you can get about 25 servings from a number 10 can. If you are going to allow seconds or maybe even thirds, you will need more.

RE: Harvey House

They were travel/whistle stops. There was one in Barstow, Ca. I think it was restored, now a museum of sorts. (from my feeble mind, not googled! Sam Correct, Star awarded. My Dad is the one who first mentioned it to me. According to him, if you ordered food, they had a practice of keeping track of your train schedule and they would bring the food right before your train was due to depart so you had the choice to either eat or get on the train. He told me that they tried to pull that with his father (My Grandfather) and he took dishes, food and everything with him, telling them that he paid for it and he was going to D--N well going to eat it.

Harvey House

Back when people traveled by rail, they had what were called Harvey Houses. Who here knows what they were? A star to the first one who gets the correct answer.
